Location: Pittsburgh PA

University of Pittsburgh (I am site PI For this study)

The goal of this study is to better understand how COVID-19 may cause or worsen diabetes. Understanding this is consistent with patient concerns regarding long-COVID.

Study Description:

Emerging epidemiologic evidence suggests increase incidence and worsening of preexisting disease, Type 1 (T1DM) and Type 2 diabetes (T2DM), in both adults and children after COVID-19 infections. This is an observational study to better understand how COVID-19 may cause or worsen diabetes.

What's involved?

Stakeholders can expect to attend 10 meetings per year, with occasional preparatory work prior to a meeting, in order to advice the CODA study on materials intended for patients (such as recruitment websites and surveys), help interpret study findings in the light of patient lived experience, and advise the study on how it shares its findings.

Is this study a good fit for you?

Must have diabetes (either Type 1 or Type 2) and have had COVID-19, or be the adult caregiver of a child who has diabetes and has had COVID-19.
