A growing literature supports the engagement of stakeholders throughout the process of health research. Including individuals with “lived” expertise in health problems and health care delivery can help ensure that research questions are relevant, improve study recruitment, make sure that study implementation meets the needs of patients and clinicians, and expand dissemination of research findings. Yet it can be challenging for researchers, patients, caregivers, health care providers and other stakeholders with shared interests to find each other and build engaged research teams. Story Booth aims to change that.

Story Booth welcomes researcher teams affiliated with academic institutions or medical centers to submit requests below for help with building stakeholder-engaged research teams. While we do not currently have capacity to team build around study ideas posed by patients/caregivers, we recognize the value of these suggestions. Patient- or caregiver-generated research topics emailed to mystory@pitt.edu will be compiled and submitted to relevant research organizations twice a year.

HOW STUDY SHARING WORKS

To engage a Story Booth storyteller as a member of your research team, just fill out the form below. We will post a description of your study to the website and advertise it directly to people who have told a story about a relevant health problem – and have expressed an interest in getting involved in stakeholder-engaged research. We will also help you develop a brief audio-story about why you are interested in this research topic. The Story Booth team will let you know if people reply with questions or interest – and help make connections between you and interested members of the Story Booth community.
